[ if you’re lucky, you’ve never heard this voice before. if you have, you’ll probably notice that he seems considerably less grouchy than he did making his greeting rounds in springstar and highstorm. tony has had time to settle in, and more importantly, he’s made some big decisions about what side he wants to support here.

…for now, at least, which is the quiet motivation behind his demanding communion. he seems utterly at home invading people’s minds, and there’s the sense of him stretching out like he’s been here the whole time and was just waiting for you to get home. ]

People here are from all different worlds, right?

[ rhetorical question, and he continues. ]

I want to hear from whoever’s been to Terra. The third planet in the Sol System. I know some of you call it Earth—the fact that you have a name for it means that you know about it. [ a pause. ] I’ll torture the knowledge out of you if I have to, but it’s easier for everyone if you just cough it up.

[ that seems to be the end of that, unless you’re a zenite, to which he then narrows his focus. ]

…sorry if you heard me say I want all the humans to die. I know we have to work together.

Am I?

[ He asked, his tone in communion smooth, and placid. It's like being drowned by still, cold water, where there's no movement, no life. Like something still, and too-slick like it's polluted. Silco's impression in communion is not pleasant, but it's not expected to be. ]

Or perhaps I'm only pointing out what we're all thinking. Is this one of the consequences of your own actions? Some of us do not enjoy being told we are inferior.

[ “what we’re all thinking.” they’re just the right words chosen to make tony upset: while it’s true that he’s used to it, and it’s true that he doesn’t care, it’s…

maybe not entirely true, no. he just hasn’t gotten to the point yet where he knows how to balance his superiority with the fact that he doesn’t want to be hated, and there’s no point to it when they’re not fighting a war with each other. as terrible as it may be, silco is on his side. ]

[ like a sulking child, tony’s communion darkens. one might imagine him curling in on himself, tucking his chin into his knees. ]

That’s not my fault.

Is it not?

[ He asked, idly. ]

You proclaim something in a new world, with new allies, and isolate yourself from all of them with foolish words, stating a fact that is not true in this new one.

[ The irony of this is lost on Silco. Since he's. He's done this. Multiple times. It's why he's going to lose his soul and his life soon enough, he knows it now. ]

Assumptions and statements are foolish. Perhaps this will be the only time you have to learn this lesson.

Why even bother lecturing?

[ tony snaps at him, but he’s well aware that the answer will be no kinder than zenith needing fodder for the war they’re losing. silco isn’t talking to him out of care or concern—it’s obviously a tactical approach, and tony gets that, but he can’t stop himself from asking anyway. ]

If I’m such a hassle…

If you are going to be one of us, then you need to learn how to work with the rest of us.

[ It is said sharply, and pointedly. He refuses to allow them to be brought down by weaknesses, even that of the newest of them. Learning on ones feet is a tried and true method of training in Zaun, and mistakes would be punished, but how he handled them was what Silco was more interested in.

Sure, he doesn't like Tony (how could he, when he was looked down upon like that?) but he know better than to let that hold them back. (He hasn't tried to kill him yet, after all. That's his line.) ]

So take the advice to heart, hm?

Or don't, and watch as you are disregarded by the lot of us, one by one, until we give you as little mind as the dirt under our feet.

[ tony scoffs, dismissive in the way only a teenager could be at silco’s warranted advice. he’s listening and trying to pretend as if he’s not—because the last thing he wants to do is for this particular human to think he’s won. ]

I don’t care what you think of me.

[ he maintains that they need his help, and certainly not the other way around. ]

But sure, working together, that’s what I was trying to say. You’re the only who got all offended.

Ah yes, because our fellow Zenites are quick to forgive, you think?

[ There is a lilt of something, that might sound like sarcasm. ]

They will promise things are fine to your face, and the betray you when you turn your back. [ Wow. ] I am the only one who will be honest with you. At least when my blade comes, you will expect it. The rest will not be so forthcoming.
