[ if you’re lucky, you’ve never heard this voice before. if you have, you’ll probably notice that he seems considerably less grouchy than he did making his greeting rounds in springstar and highstorm. tony has had time to settle in, and more importantly, he’s made some big decisions about what side he wants to support here.

…for now, at least, which is the quiet motivation behind his demanding communion. he seems utterly at home invading people’s minds, and there’s the sense of him stretching out like he’s been here the whole time and was just waiting for you to get home. ]

People here are from all different worlds, right?

[ rhetorical question, and he continues. ]

I want to hear from whoever’s been to Terra. The third planet in the Sol System. I know some of you call it Earth—the fact that you have a name for it means that you know about it. [ a pause. ] I’ll torture the knowledge out of you if I have to, but it’s easier for everyone if you just cough it up.

[ that seems to be the end of that, unless you’re a zenite, to which he then narrows his focus. ]

…sorry if you heard me say I want all the humans to die. I know we have to work together.

[ tony is processing… but okay, yeah, honestly, “not alike in any way” seems to sum it up. it’s hard for him to imagine it, simply because his imagination is limited, but that doesn’t mean he’s judgmental or disbelieving. ]

Huh… so do you have any weaknesses?

[ he’s not asking for the sake of battle; he’s, albeit a bit naively, just asking for pure scientific curiosity. ]

[ You know, he kind of appreciates how straightforward the question is. He laughs, but it's amused and playful rather than anything accusatory. ]

Ah, what a question! It is not really in my best interests to answer, depending... Have you picked a side in our little conflict, sir?

Uh, yeah. Zenith.

[ he’s not yet Lost In The Sauce, but yima was able to offer him his grandpa immediately, and cyrus was able to offer… the possibility of seeing his grandpa again, which just wasn’t certain enough for tony’s liking. ]

So, are we friends?

[ …Well. He wouldn’t actually put it that way, but. ]

Ah, in that case, yes, I do believe we are. [ He’ll lie about it, since it’s easier. ] Or allies, at the very least.

[ The focus of Communion shrinks so that it’s for Tony alone. It’s probably not much of a necessary precaution, but with the subject, he’s cautious, even if he only plans to say half-truths. ]

In that case, I will admit that grievous injury unfortunately will dissipate me the same as any other… I have significant regenerative ability, but I suppose at a certain point it is too much. A shame, though. Where I am from, there is no man-made weapon that would have been able to truly injure me.

[ tony doesn’t really consider any of them true friends, but he uses the word casually anyway—and sebastian doesn’t object, so it seems that the intent was communicated.

he’s surprised but grateful to hear sebastian actually go through the process of explaining his limitations. it’s… interesting, even if tony really doesn’t know what to do with the information in the end. ]

Huh… but I bet you “demons” would be able to hurt each other.

[ not that they would… right? ]

[ He actually laughs, but it’s less humor and more the sense of recalling a curious, slightly annoying event. ]

That might as well have been how we communicated, honestly. At least in some sense. Killing each other is what our whole society was structured around, so it would be inconvenient if our immortality applied at “home” too.

[ to tony, sebastian delivering such a world-shattering piece of information in such a collected tone is more than a little horrifying. his stomach twists, and suddenly, the privacy of their communion feels more confining than cozy. ]

What? That’s… but…

[ that’s horrifying. it’s barbaric. ]

Mm, my kind are…. Unique, in that way.

[ Which is a way to put it, but it sure is underselling it. ]

There is a reason I much preferred to spend time in the human realm when I had opportunity, and it is just as much why I say “good riddance” to it being gone.
